##### We've been knocking around the Matrix community for years, long enough that you've probably run into us in a room or two. etke.cc started in 2021, when Nikita Chernyi built a service on top of Slavi Pantaleev's free-software work: the [matrix-docker-ansible-deploy](https://github.com/spantaleev/matrix-docker-ansible-deploy) Ansible playbook, the most popular and genuinely sane way to run [![](https://etke.cc/img/logos/matrix.svg) Matrix](https://matrix.org/) on your own infrastructure (going strong since 2017). You get a place to talk that's private, locked down, and actually stays up, running on a managed server you never have to think about.

We take care of the server so you can get on with actually talking to people. etke.cc began as a simple way to let people host their own Matrix, and it hasn't stopped growing since.
