Reminder bot

The Reminder Bot bot installed by us is powered by matrix-reminder-bot.

This page shows you how to set up Reminder Bot using Cinny client app (available as an add-on component) for scheduling one-off or recurring reminder messages in a Matrix room.

The bot will keep track of the reminder and send a message back to you per pre-set schedules.

Usage¶

To use the bot, start a chat with @reminder:your-server.com. You can also add the bot to any existing Matrix room by inviting it to the room (/invite @reminder:your-server.com).

Make sure to replace your-server.com with your actual “base domain”. Setting your-server.com or example.com does not work on your server!

You can check available commands along with general usage (listing reminders, canceling reminders, advanced usage, etc.) by sending !help reminders in the room.

Example reminders¶

Example one-off reminders:

• !remindme at 18:00; Pick up groceries
• !remindme tomorrow at 10:45; Head to that 11:00 meeting
• !remindme on 12th of September; Wish John a Happy Birthday

Example recurring reminders:

• !remindme every 1w; on Tuesday at 07:30; Take out the trash (the first reminder will be next Tuesday at 07:30; it will repeat every 1 week after that)
• !remindme every 1h; 1h; Do you want to take some rest? (the first reminder will be after 1 hour; it will repeat every hour after that)
