Google Messages bridge
The Google Messages bridge installed by us is powered by mautrix-gmessages.
UsageΒΆ
This page shows you how to set up the Google Messages bridge using Cinny client app (available as an add-on component), so that you can receive and send messages between Google Messages and Matrix rooms.
Invite the bot to a management roomΒΆ
First, please start a chat with @gmessagesbot:your-server.com to create a management room.
Make sure to replace your-server.com with your actual “base domain”. Setting your-server.com or example.com does not work on your server!

When the bot joins to the created room, it sends confirmation messages to the room as below. If they are visible, bot successfully joined the management room β it works as expected.

AuthenticationΒΆ
To bridge Google Messages over Matrix, you need to authenticate the bridge’s bot for Google Messages.
To conduct authentication, please follow the steps below.
- Send

Messages by Googleapp - Tap Menu from your conversation list and select
Device pairing - Tap
QR code scannerand point your phone at the image sent by the bot

After logging in, the bridge will create portal rooms for recent chats.
π‘ Because all messages are proxied through the phone app, your phone has to be connected to the internet for the bridge to work.
