Google Voice bridge

The Google Voice bridge installed by us is powered by mautrix-gvoice.

Usage

Google Voice never got a proper API, so anything that bridges it is really holding a fistful of browser cookies and hoping Google does not flinch. This one does that for you: it pulls your texts and MMS into Matrix rooms, and sends whatever you type back out over Google Voice.

Invite the bot to a management room

Start a chat with @gvoicebot:your-server.com to create a management room.

Replace your-server.com with your actual base domain. Leaving it as your-server.com or example.com will not work.

When the bot joins, it posts a confirmation message to the room. If you see it, the bot is in and you are ready to log in.

Authentication

This is the cookie hunt from up top, for real this time. Follow the steps exactly, and do not skip the incognito window: miss a step and the login fails silently, no error, no hint which one you fumbled, just a bridge that never comes to life.

  1. Send login to the bridge bot.
  2. Open a private/incognito browser window. This part matters: a normal window rotates the cookies out from under you halfway through.
  3. Log in to Google Voice with your Google account.
  4. Open your browser’s developer tools and switch to the “Network” tab.
  5. Find a request to voice.google.com, right-click it, and copy it as cURL.
  6. Send that cURL command to the bot. (If you would rather, the bot also takes a JSON object of the cookies SID, HSID, SSID, OSID, APISID, and SAPISID, plus __Secure-1PSIDTS when Google asks for it.)

⚠️ Those cookies are live keys to your whole Google account, not only Google Voice. Paste them only in your private room with the bot, never in a room that is bridged or shared with anyone else, and delete the message once the bot confirms it is in.

Once the bot confirms, your recent conversations start showing up as rooms.

💡 Those cookies will expire, and when they do the bridge goes quiet with no warning at all. When messages stop landing, run login again and walk the steps a second time.
