# BorgBackupWe can install and configure [BorgBackup](https://www.borgbackup.org/) with [borgmatic](https://torsion.org/borgmatic/) for you. It is offered as an add-on service.

BorgBackup is a deduplicating backup program with optional compression and encryption. Your daily incremental backups can be stored in a fraction of the space and is safe whether you store it at home or on a cloud service, thanks to encryption.

## Target users

**If you host your server by us**, we automatically [enable server backups](https://docs.hetzner.com/cloud/servers/getting-started/enabling-backups/) with our provider ([Hetzner Cloud](https://hetzner.cloud/?ref=1yg3ZZmtrg5A)), which provides you 7 daily backups of your whole server. If you manage your server somewhere else, similar whole-server snapshot options may be available to you.

Nevertheless, it is **always a good idea to have extra backups**, especially at other locations (off-site, etc). With BorgBackup, it is possible to manage those backups on the remote machine of your choice.

## Data and schedule for backup tasks

BorgBackup will back up the files for all services, and also include a database dump of the [PostgreSQL](https://www.postgresql.org/) database we manage for you on the server.

The backup will run based a schedule, which defaults to **4 A.M, every day**.

## Getting started

To use our BorgBackup service, you **need a remote server** where BorgBackup will manage backups. You might be interested in hosted, Borg-compatible solutions, such as [BorgBase](https://www.borgbase.com) and [rsync.net](https://rsync.net).
